Have You Heard of a Referral and The Law of Reciprocity?

To give and take mutually; to return in kind or even in another kind or degree. You may have heard it expressed as: “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.” The law of reciprocity, (which applies in EVERY culture on the face of the earth), simply explains that when someone gives you something you feel an obligation to give back. Reciprocity is a basis of trust and a basis for legitimate power. The principle is that others will reciprocate based upon the way you treat them. The world gives you what you give to the world.

You may remember me from Business in Heels. I am now working Real Estate and absolutely loving it. At the end of the day, most businesses are not so much about the product or service you offer, but how you build relationships and whether or not people get to know, like and trust you.


I wanted to suggest that we help other? My suggestion is two-fold. I am more than happy to invite my friends to like your Facebook page and also write a testimonial on my page referring and promoting your business if you would like to do the same for mine? I have found this works really well and can achieve great results for both businesses. Secondly, if you have any brochures or marketing information, I personally hand deliver to 2000 homes in Kiama Downs (over a two week period) my marketing material and if your business is looking to attract new customers/clients, I am happy to include your flyer/brochure in one of my fortnightly drops to these homes.

I also wanted to offer my service to you. Recently I was entered by my office into a Novice Auctioneers Competition that I thought was just a local Illawarra Real Estate thing…. That night the group raised $25,000 for Illawarra Convey, which is fantastic, but I was the overall winner and am now going off to the State final!! Yes, that’s right; it was a heat that I was entered in, unbeknownst to me. Like everything I undertake I like to give 100%,, winning wasn’t my goal, but to do best I could definitely was. I wanted to put together a great prize and make some awesome money for charity. My offer to you is this…. if you are involved with any charity/not for profit organisation, I am more than happy to offer my auctioneering skills to you. (Remember they are NOVICE, but they will come free of charge.) I have since done a couple of other charity auctions and it’s a great way to have fun and raise money at the same time. Something I quite enjoy and hey practice only makes you better!!

Referral marketing is considered to be one of the most cost-effective and trusted ways to win new business. It’s the simple process of gaining a network of individuals who understand and trust you and your company enough to refer you to their networks if the need for your service or product should arise. If you decide to take up my offer, I am happy to also advise that should you provide me with a referral of a family member, friend or colleague and they choose to list and sell their home with me, I am happy to provide you with a further financial gift, of which I am only too happy to discuss with you and of course in return, I would love to know more about you, your business and how I can help send referrals your way, this is a WIN-WIN way of doing business… I look forward to hearing from you!
